La vitamine C et la condition humaine

La seule façon de concevoir le potentiel révolutionnaire de la « vitamine C » dans le développement de l’humanité est de prendre conscience du fait que seuls les grands primates (et un petit nombre d’autres espèces, p. ex. les cobayes) ne produisent pas (ne produisent plus, d’un point vue évolutionnaire) de cette molécule dérivée du glucose.

Personne ne sait pourquoi ces espèces n’en produisent plus.

Le fait que l’écrasante majorité en produise est une indication de son importance; il serait anthropomorphique de croire l’inverse (« Le fait que nous n’en faisons plus montre que ce n’est pas nécessaire à notre espèce évoluée »).
